Identification

* Artist: Jane Gray ARCA, FMGP (British, 1931–2024)

* Date: circa 1970

* Subject: Saint Christopher carrying the Christ Child

* Medium: painted, stained and leaded glass

* Size: 96.7 × 43.8 cm, framed

* Original light-wood frame retained

Jane Gray trained at the Royal College of Art and assisted Lawrence Stanley Lee with the great nave windows for Coventry Cathedral. She subsequently produced windows for more than 40 churches and described her style as “modern medieval.” She was also the first female stained-glass artist to become a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers. This was bought earlier this year by another dealer in a very poor condition at auction. Was beyond his capabilities so we took it in to refurb.

Was a slow process to do this unique piece but worth it to save it.
